"The Best Of Both Worlds"

Greetings fellow E-Dorks!

Well, the hockey game Saturday night was pretty damn fun. It was the 2nd playoff game I have attended, the first being Game 5 of the 1997 play off run when the Sabers were eliminated by the Flyers. So it was very nice to see the Sabers win this time. And what about that game 2? Wow!

Well, I have signed up for orientation at Fredonia on June 21st. 10 hours of fun, I am sure.

I wish Fredonia has an actual course catalogue fore the classes being offered this Fall, as opposed to a catalogue detailing every class that will be offered from 2005-2007. Oh well, at least I know I can sign up for my classes on the 21st of June.

I got my car back today, 20 days after I got in my accident. I cannot wait to drive it now.

Well, that’s all for now. Oh btw... if anyone has a Sony camera that takes the normal “large” size memory sticks, please let me know. I have a memory stick with tons of photos on it that I want to upload, but cannot do so because my camera takes the smaller stick. I know Haji has one as he has my old camera. So, if all else fails...Come home Haji, Haji come home. Sorry, I was watching “Peanuts” movies the other day.

BREAKING NEWS: J.J. Abrams to Produce "Trek XI"

J.J. Abrams, producer of hit shows Lost and Alias, as well as director of the upcomming Paramount film "Mission: Impossible III," is slated to produce the next Star Trek feature, according to today's Daily Variety.
Although the official Paramount press release should follow shortly, word about the Abrams project surfaced this morning in the daily trade paper. He will be writing the script with Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci who penned "MI: III." Although Abrams is not yet confirmed to direct the project, he isn't ruling it out either.
The proposed story will focus on the early days of James T. Kirk and Spock, including their first meeting at Starfleet Academy and their first mission in space.
Although it's not confirmed, Abrams' producing partners from Lost, Damon Lindelof and Bryan Burk are cited as being producers on the untitled "Trek XI" feature. (This project is separate from the previously rumored script developed by Eric Jendersen and overseen by Rick Berman.)
This new film is currently targeted for a 2008 release.
We will be publishing the official Paramount press release once it is available.

"The High Ground"

Well , I managed to go all autumn and winter long without getting so much as a sniffle once. Then, on April 6th, I get sick. The past 3 days I have gone through hundreds of tissues, my nose is raw, my eyes all puffed up, and I head everything inside my head.

It doesn’t help that I got into a car accident yesterday on the way to work. I knew I should have called in, but I am very much afraid of calling in now for any reason. I am fine, the girl driving the Urban Assault Vehicle who hit me is fine as well. I was driving up Hunt road, and was coming up on Howard Ave. She was at the stop sign, and just decided to drive out in front of me. I guess she says she just didn’t see me, or hear my horn, until she nailed my front end. As we were both fine I was not angry. I mean, it really helped my cold out, getting to stand out in the cold rain for 45 minutes. The good thing is, that since it was her fault, she is buying me a new front bumper, and replacing the left head light, and the bitchin’ scratch marks she caused.... Really, I think I do not get angry enough when I should. Meh...

I just ordered 2 tickets to see Dave Matthews on June 14th up at Darien Lake. I haven’t seen Dave since 1998, so I am really looking forward to this.

Well, yeah. Okay.

"The Hunted"

Erika has a job interview at Sears today. And it is for good old division 57. Thats right. They are splitting up div. 20 and 57 again. So they are hiring 5 new people for electronics, and Erika is on the short list of interviews.

Needless to say, I am speaking to Jeff, and this new manager, and am going to beg once more for my old job back. I am just a tad bit masochistic I suppose.

I love working at FYE and all, I really do. I am happy for the first time since January of last year (which I am sure I have mentioned before). But I just feel like I was the happiest when I was selling electronics. I never was bothered by the fabled "cut-throat" politcs of selling items on commission. I still am up to date on the features of televisions, cameras, camcorders, dvr's, you name it.

So hell...we will see how it goes, and tomorrow I will probably be bitchin' again about how life is unfair or something.

"The Defector"

I am frustrated that my repeated attempts to win Deal or no Dealhave been frauted by my clinging onto lucky numbers which are attributed to old friends of mine.

"The Vengeance Factor"

"The Enemy"

"Booby Trap"

This was a test to see if my flash settings were working correctly. Emma and my mom are searching through the most oversized package for a tiny toy for Charlie (Erikas dog)

"Who Watches The Watchers"

What’s in a name?

Being such a fan of sports, and wrestling as well, I find that initial popularity and acceptance is determined largely by a name. It also has a lot to do with music as well.

Part 1: Wrestling

I will give you two sets of names here. One is of wrestlers who at one point (most likely an extended time) in their careers were widely popular, and were even known to pseudo-fans and non followers. The other is a list of flops, that were either dropped quickly or were pushed down the fans throats by “creative” i.e. Vincent Kennedy McMahon.

HHH, The Rock, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Mick Foley, Cactus Jack, Mankind, Dude Love (yes the last four were all one person), Undertaker, Kane, Rob Van Dam, Hulk Hogan, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, Ric Flair, Big Van Vader, John Cena, Andre The Giant, Sting, Shawn Michaels, Bret “The Hitman”Hart, “The Million Dollar Man” Ted Diabase, Diesel

List 2: Mideon, Viscera, Bastion Booger, Kamala, Garrison Cade, Leif Cassidy, Steve Blackman, “The Blue Chipper” Rocky Miavia, “The American Blueblood” Hunter Hurst Helmsley, “The Ringmaster” Steve Austin, Prototype, Oz, Flex, ...

In certain instance, bad names only needed retooling, along with the wrestlers gimmick. Take HHH for example. It is much easier to say and remember “HHH” rather than “The American Blue Blood” Hunter Hurst Helmsley. And which sounds more suited for a wrestler; “Ringmaster” or “Stone Cold”. The Rock, who is probably the best known wrestler ever (outside of Hulk Hogan or Andre The Giant) originally was rejected completely by the fans. He was shoved down are throats as a blue chip 3rd generation superstar who should be a given fan favorite. The man sucked. His gimmick was terrible, and his shtick was worse. So the WWF decided to take him off the roster for a few months, and when they brought him back he was “The Rock”. He was now a heel (bad guy), and cut the best promos in the business, coming up with 5 t-shirt slogans in every interview he gave.

Part 2 to follow.

"The Bonding"

Erika, Emma, and myself were trying to take pictures of the a rainbow last Friday evening. The sky also had an eerie orangish glow to it, which my camera only made more pronounced.
