"The Savage Curtain"
I was at the premiere (midnight) of Harry Potter and The Goblet Of Fire last night at the Chautauqua mall. I was disapointed with the lack of any line outside the theater, online ticket buying has KILLED the geekdom act of waiting in a line for insane amounts of hours. I was however the FIRST person into the theater, as I will make my own line if needs be, as I proved last night.
The previews were for "Monster House", a terrible looking animated movie, "King Kong" which looks great and I cannot wait for, some retarded looking animated penguin movie with Robin Williams, and "Superman Returns" which I say..."eh" for as I am not too into DC comics, or superman for that matter.
The movie itself...dark. left out way too much of the actual text for CGI stuff that looks good on screen. dont get me wrong, I loved the movie, and thought the five minute battle with the hungarian horntail looked superb, but is it worth sacrificing events of the book for events that are made up for the movie? I would rather have seen the Dursleys in the movie, and Dobby and winky, but as the director said, the winky story line didnt add anything to the plot. No Quiditch was shown at the Quiditch world cup, and Ludo Bagman does not exist in the movie realm.
Other than that, it was great. Ralph Fiennes was bloody brilliant in my opinion, even though he DID chew the scenary a tad. there were complaints from my sister that he did not look scary enough, but this IS coming from the person who sees herself as the future Mrs. Rupert Grint.
****1/4 stars. Cant give it the Five stars as it just left out too much from the book. understandable, but regretable nonetheless.
Order of the Phoenix begins filming in February. I dont see how this movie can be short of the four hour mark, or split into two films each clocking in at around 145 minutes a piece. It looks like most of the major actors will return for the fifth film, including the trio, so calm down.
And I ,like Ron, love the way Fleur walks.
